KINTSUGI

------------------------------------------

Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery") is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold.

As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. There is an added value in the marks of wear by the use of an object.

This philosophy applied to rehabilitation in architecture can open various possibilities in creating unique spaces and details, while telling and enhancing the story of the place.
